Molecular Sieve 5A
Molecular sieve 5A is the calcium-sodium alumino-silicate with type A crystal structure, made by exchanging sodium ions in 4A molecular sieve with calcium ions. The effective pore opening is about 5 angstroms, which means it can only adsorb molecules with effective diameter smaller than 5 angstroms. With this feature, 5A molecular sieve is often used in the applications as below

Recommended Application :
1. Remove water, CO2, H2S from sour natural gas streams
2. Remove light mercaptans.
3. Separate normal- and iso-paraffins.
4. Drying of highly polar compounds, such as methanol and ethanol.
5. Produce high purity N2, O2, H2 and inert gases from mixed gas streams.

Molecular 5A can be regenerated and reused by two ways. One is thermal regeneration method (thermal swing adsorption, TSA), which need to heat it to 200-230℃ 390-570°F). The other way is by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing adsorption process (PSA).
