Molecular Sieve 3A
Molecular sieve 3A is the potassium-sodium alumino-silicate with type A crystal structure, made by exchanging sodium ions in 4A molecular sieve with potassium ions. The effective pore opening is about 3 angstroms, which means it can only adsorb molecules with effective diameter smaller than 3 angstroms. With this feature, 3A molecular sieve is often used in the applications as below

Recommended Application :

1. Dehydration of unsaturated hydrocarbons (e.g., ethylene, propylene, butadiene).
2. Dehydration of cracked petroleum gases, such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, acetylene and natural gas, and of polar liquid, such as ethanol, LPG and solvent.
3. Drying natural gas.
4. Drying highly polar compounds, such as methanol and ethanol.
5. Drying refrigerants.
6. Dehydration of benzene, toluene, xylene and other solvents.
7. Dehydration of insulating glass units.

Molecular 3A can be regenerated and reused by two ways. One is thermal regeneration method (thermal swing adsorption, TSA), which need to heat it to 200-230℃ (390-570 F). The other way is by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing adsorption process (PSA).
